Custom Fields in Reports

spg 2 years ago in Command updated by Amit Mehta (Director Product Management) 3 days ago 16

It would be really great if either BrightGauge or the built-in reporting engine could pull from Custom Fields as a data source. At the moment, if you want to see a summary of data in any Custom Field, you have to drill into each and every endpoint/site/company and grab the info one datum at a time, which is quite time consuming.

@spg - the Custom Fields data would have to be made available via API for BrightGauge to report on them (the legacy SAAZ reporting engine doesn't know about these fields).  However, that means the API for Devices (or Company/Site) has to be enhanced to add those fields.

I am venturing a complete guess (as I have no knowledge one way or the other), but I don't see that happening until some time in Q2 or Q3 2024 - if at all.

I want to encourage this request.    Moving from Automate to RMM, I am already finding significant limitations in the information that is available me in RMM.   Custom fields could be a way for me to make new fields with that information in my own way.     Take this example.    RMM cannot report on connected printers for a device (at least I don't know how).    My workaround could be to create a powershell to populate custom fields with printer information for all devices.    But, how can I get to this information to show a customer or to audit that list?    Clicking in to each device is not a realistic option.

I am also encouraging this. Right now there is a lot of data in RMM, but with limited visibility to some of it. Custom fields data if probably one of the biggest ones (lack of visibility/access to it). It is holding this product back from being on par with it's competitors.

Hi All,
We are actively working on addressing this requirement. While we don't have an exact ETA, the team is committed to fulfilling this request by end of Q3 2024. We will keep you updated as soon as we have a more concrete timeline. Thanks.

Is there any update when this is due?

it's been roadmapped as next quarter for at least 2 quarters now

Any indication when this feature will be available?

@Levy Berkowitz, this feature is still in "early access" mode.

According to @Amit Mehta:  BrightGauge access for Custom fields can be requested using the following link:
